Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in healthcare as a Registered Dietitian preferably with counseling experience in pediatric nutrition.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • State Licensure: Certified Dietitian-Nutritionists in New York State on hire or within six (6) months of hire required.
  • Preferred qualifications of a Master’s Degree within the area of Nutrition or related field. Board Certification as a Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition. Board Certification as a Nutrition Support Clinician or other certifications in Pediatrics Nutrition. Weight Management, Metabolic, Ketogenic, Obesity or Renal Nutrition.

Come be a part of our progressive, evidence-based nutrition care team that supports our Pediatric Outpatient Clinics: Center for Behavior, Development and Genetics, Pediatric Nephrology, Pediatric Neurology and Golisano Center for Special Needs. Our outpatient pediatric clinic provides opportunities where you can accelerate your pediatric related counseling skills in areas of metabolic, genetic, behavioral and Special Needs to support the growth and development of our pediatric population we care for. MedBest employs Dietitians in both the Inpatient and Outpatient service areas which provides a great opportunity to advance in your professional practice. The Pediatric Outpatient Dietitian preforms a variety of specialized duties related to nutrition counseling of patients/families for Medical Nutrition Therapy. Outpatient Dietitians provide a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s nutrition status through anthropometrics, diet history, labs, past medical history, emotional/social issues etc. to analyze and provide appropriate nutritional therapy. The Outpatient Dietitian develops realistic, measurable goals to manage the patient’s nutrition plan. Outpatient Dietitians document interactions with patients in the electronic medical record according to the standards of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Outpatient Dietitian will understand Medical Nutrition Therapy when it comes to specific disease states for: Metabolic, Genetic, Neurologic, Nephrology and Special Needs: nutrition and feeding deficiencies/abnormalities. Outpatient Dietitian will understand billing practices, bill for appropriate services-based Level of Service, duration of counseling conducted and be comfortable with face to face encounters, whether physically present or Telemedicine. Outpatient Dietitian will participate in monthly staff meetings to review and revise department quality initiatives.
