Experience & Qualifications: 5+ years including clinical and other relevant dietetic experience in the New York City area.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will work to develop relationships with internship sites to create and maintain appropriate clinical placement opportunities for students that satisfy curricular/educational needs; train preceptors in procedures, curriculum competencies, intern evaluation, and documentation; initiate and maintain communication and correspondence between academic and internship sites, and recruit potential internship sites in the New York City area.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Manage the Dietetic Internship (DI) database: Collect data and maintain related records from internship site visits, meetings, emails, and telephone conversations for the DI database, and track information about clinical placement as required by ACEND. Perform quarterly reviews of active internship sites to ensure all content is up to date and partner with internship sites to verify and obtain any missing data. Communicate and coordinate with Nutrition Academic Faculty Program Director, program faculty, preceptors, and managers at the internship sites and others involved with the program. Under the direction of the Director and in consultation with NYU's Office of Legal Counsel, initiate and renew contracts between NYU and internship sites. Ensure that certificates of insurance are sent to all internship sites. Advise students about clinical internship placements; ensure their preparedness for the various internship rotations (review academic credentials, track clearance requirements and discuss expectations). Visit DI sites throughout the year to monitor the progress of the dietetic interns. Conduct ongoing program evaluation and student competency assessment and participate in the development of a more integrated experience that complies with the ACEND Future Education Model. Coordinate all aspects of bi-annual dietetic intern selection process, including application review, interviews, candidate evaluation, selection of ranked applicants, and notifications on DICAS and D&D platforms. Lead/teach Clinical Practice in Dietetics weekly seminars. Develop policies and procedures for the program and conduct ongoing curriculum reviews. Complete other analyses, reporting, and projects as instructed. Actively participate in School, Department, Program, and committee meetings as assigned. Participate in Dietetic Internship Fairs. Host monthly Dietetic Internship information sessions and other program marketing for intern recruitment.
