The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) is seeking an Extension Associate to work under the direction of the Food and Nutrition Education in Communities (FNEC) Director and collaborate with the FNEC team of extension and research associates, support specialists, and other state and county extension staff to assure quality programming. The Extension Associate will provide leadership for the identification and/or development of resources for use with participants and staff for the New York State Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and other programs targeted to limited resource audiences, and provide leadership as the Regional Coordinator for the North Country and Southern Tier EFNEP regions. This individual will be responsible for the evaluation of programming and resources and develop/deliver training to staff on identified needs. The Division of Nutritional SciencesThe Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) at Cornell University is among the largest academic units in the United States devoted to human nutrition and is distinguished by its multi‐disciplinary faculty. The scholarly activities of the Division, including research, education and extension/outreach, integrate knowledge across the physical, biological and social sciences to address important questions related to nutrition and health, food systems and behavior patterns, and social and institutional environments and governmental policies in relation to nutrition and human health. Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) at Cornell University, partners with the College of Human Ecology and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences to share research based information and knowledge with the citizens of New York State. It is within this structure that EFNEP is delivered.

•Identify program curricula, recipes, resource materials, methods of delivery•Incorporate research and evaluation results into EFNEP and other programs targeted to limited resource audiences;
•Technical assistance and training for EFNEP staff in North Country and Southern Tier regions;
•Use of appropriate channels of communication including distance learning and social media.
•Develop and train staff of various levels.•Represent FNEC staff on committees and projects with faculty, staff and external stakeholders, establish networks with other state agencies, serve on advisory committees and expert panels, and participate in DNS, Cornell Cooperative Extension and College of Human Ecology work teams as appropriate.
•Travel, with occasional overnight stays as needed to conduct program duties required of this position.
•Contribute to the work of the FNEC team.

The candidate is expected to have:
•Master’s Degree in nutrition, health education, or a closely related field;•Knowledge of the principles, theory, research, and application of subject-matter in nutrition;
•Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position;
•Ability to meet acceptable background check standards;
•Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate;
•Ability to transport/move supplies and equipment, climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation;
•Experience with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel;
•Ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual channels using traditional methods as well as electronic technology;
•Demonstrated experience and ability to work independently and as part of a team with internal and external partners at multiple levels within organizations and across communities;
•Ability to initiate, plan, organize, implement and evaluate informal education programs for diverse audiences;
•Ability to effectively lead and participate in professional team efforts and highly functioning work teams.
Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community, and professional leaders and clientele groups;
•Ability to identify and make use of program resources;•Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information;
•Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, requirements, and priorities to complete work in a timely manner and within established deadlines;

Preferred Qualifications:
•Registered Dietitian;
•Experience with nutrition education programs for limited resource audiences.
