NYSDA Media Representatives
Barbara Baron is a registered dietitian and Director of Health Professional Communications for the American Dairy Association & Dairy Council, Inc. (ADADC), a non-profit nutrition education organization recognized as an educational-scientific institution by the Federal Government. Ms. Baron conducts seminars and develops messages about dairy’s health and nutrition benefits to physicians, dietitians and community health leaders. She also serves as a nutrition expert and spokesperson conducting interviews with media and explaining dietary information in easy-to-understand terms.
Prior to joining Dairy Council, Ms. Baron worked as a clinical dietitian at The Hospital for Special Surgery, specializing in osteoporosis, orthopedic and rheumatic diseases. She is a member of several practice groups within The American Dietetic Association including Sports and Cardiovascular Nutrition; Pediatric Nutrition; Food & Culinary Professionals; Woman and Reproductive Nutrition; and served as Chair, Speakers Bureau, Nutrition Education of the Public, 2006-2007
Ms. Baron completed her Dietetic Internship at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics/Dietetics from Hunter College in New York City, and a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Physical Fitness from New York University. She is Past President of the New York State Dietetic Association; was awarded The Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year by the American Dietetic Association in 1994, and the Distinguished Dietitian of the Year from the Greater New York Dietetic Association in 2002.
Alissa is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. She is the owner of NutriTherapy, a New York City based nutrition counseling and personal training company. She also works as a Clinical Dietitian at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, using her expertise as a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician.
A graduate of the University of Delaware, Alissa earned Bachelor degrees in both Dietetics and Exercise Physiology. Upon completion of her dietetic internship with the University of Connecticut, she was awarded the prestigious “Dietetic Intern of the Year” Award from the American Dietetic Association.
Alissa has made numerous television appearances including ABC 7, Fox 5 News, BBC World News and NY1 News and is frequently quoted in national publications. She is an active member of the American Dietetic Association, the New York State Dietetic Association, and the Greater New York Dietetic Association, and is certified in Adult and Child CPR/AED. In her spare time she enjoys running, cooking and exploring new restaurants.
J. Elizabeth Smythe (Beth) is a nutrition consultant and private practitioner in the Rochester area who specializes in weight management, nutrition and wellness. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer. Beth began her private practice in 1999. She has worked as a nutrition and wellness consultant for a privately owned supermarket chain, regularly speaks for organizations and corporations on nutrition, health and wellness issues, and is regularly seen on a local news program.
As an active volunteer, she has held many positions on both her state and local dietetic associations' boards. As an active member of the NYSDA board she is President and a Media Representative. Previous positions held include Legislative Network Coordinator and District President Representative. On the local level, Beth is Past President, Public Relations Chair and Fundraising Chair for the Genesee Dietetic Association.

Molly Morgan is the owner of Creative Nutrition Solutions and an author. Her work focuses on developing custom nutrition programs that yield results. Ever since she became a registered dietitian in 2000 she has been promoting the link between food and health since. Molly started creative nutrition solutions in 2005 and has worked and continues to work with an impressive list of clients including Fortune 500 companies, national brands, and professional sports teams.
She is known for her passion and energy that she infuses into all that she does and for making healthy food taste great. Molly has been featured as a nutrition expert by numerous media outlets and publications including: CNN, Fitness, Men’s Health, Readers Digest, Self, Shape, and Women’s Health.
Molly completed her nutrition degree and coordinated practice in clinical dietetics at the State University at Buffalo and maintains her nutrition knowledge through continuing education. Additionally she is certified in Adolescent and Pediatric Weight Management and is pursuing becoming board certified in sports nutrition.
She is a New York State Dietetic Association media representative, the immediate past president of the Southern Tier Dietetics Association, and a member of American Dietetic Association, New York State Dietetic Association, and Sports Cardiovascular and Nutrition.

Nicolette M. Pace MS, RD, CDE, CDN, CFCS is the founder and President of NutriSource Inc. a community based private practice that specializes in the delivery of Medical Nutrition Therapy, Diabetes Self Management Training, Health and Behavior Intervention and lifestyle counseling.
She specializes in the care and treatment of bariatric patients, diabetes and other metabolic disorders as well as a multitude of chronic medical conditions. She is an ADA accredited Registered Dietitian, a NYS certified Dietitian/Nutritionist, an AADE Certified Diabetes Educator and is also Certified in Family and Consumer Sciences. As a skilled behaviorist, she integrates lifestyle management and nutrition to create a comprehensive plan of care, deliver effective interventions and produce lasting outcomes.
Prior to founding NutriSource, Nicolette served as the Director of Clinical Nutrition at the NYHQ/Silvercrest Center where she provided both administrative and direct care for sub-acute and chronically ill long term care patients. While there, she chaired the Nutrition Committee and implemented systematic changes and procedural revisions leading to improvements in the standards of care for residents. She has also worked at Lenox Hill and North Shore University hospital where her efforts assisted innovative program development, administrative support and care of patients.
Currently, she services patients within the New York City – Long Island regions. She is active participant in the NSLIJ-Health System bariatric program where she offers advisory input and is a featured speaker for various events within the community. She provides training and education for students as an adjunct nutrition professor for doctoral students at Touro College, has been on the faculty of Queens College, a member of the Dietetics Advisory Board and a dietetic internship preceptor for dietetic students.
Nicolette’s expertise reflects a unique collaboration of clinical nutrition, food and culinary arts, behavioral health, finance, advertising, journalism and news production Media experience includes work in radio and television operations and news production for CBS Radio and Television Network, News 12 Long Island and CNN. She frequently provides expert opinion interviews for various media and CBS 2 HD. Her participation in news segments has attracted national coverage and local media attention and she has been quoted on various online and print media venues. She is a contributing writer to Shape-Fit, an online comprehensive web service for fitness enthusiasts, has authored a monthly nutrition column entitled “Good Bites” published in the Queens Courier, and is an article contributor for Obesity Help Magazine. She frequently blogs on nutrition and lifestyle related topics which can be seen on www.nutrisource.org.
Ellie Wilson is a registered dietitian and Senior Nutritionist for Price Chopper/Golub Corporation, located in Schenectady, NY. She holds a M.S. in Community Health Education, and is additionally certified in weight management for pediatrics, adolescents, and adults.
Ms. Wilson attended Russell Sage College, where she obtained her B.S. in Nutrition Science. She then completed her internship and master’s degree at Sage Graduate School, all located in Troy, N.Y. She has held clinical dietitian positions with Seton Health Systems, Albany Clinical Nutrition, and Capital Cardiology; worked as consultant for New York State Dept. of Education for the School Meals Initiative; Outreach Director for the Oley Foundation, a non-profit that serves individuals living on tpn or tube feeding; and also had her own practice, Neighborhood Nutrition, LLC, which offered medical nutrition therapy and corporate wellness programs.
As Senior Nutritionist for Price Chopper, Ellie is developing nutrition resources for the entire chain of 116 stores. She is active professionally with the Hudson Valley Dietetic and New York State Dietetic Associations. Ellie lives with her husband Walter and son Donald in Schenectady.

Theresa is a Registered Dietitian and Consumer Affairs Manager at Wegmans Food Markets. A self-described “foodie”, Theresa enjoys cooking, finding and developing recipes to share with those she educates, and translating the science of nutrition into practical solutions for the home and workplace. Relatively new to supermarket nutrition, Theresa has had over 12 years of experience in medical nutrition therapy and hospital food service management.
A graduate of New Mexico State University, Theresa completed her dietetic internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Her varied work experience has included caring for patients with kidney disease, organ transplants, diabetes, stroke and head-injured patients, as well as long term care Residents, pregnant mothers, and children of all ages. She has been certified in Nutrition Support since 2002, and is also ServSafe certified in Food Safety.
With membership in the Western New York Dietetic Association and the American Dietetic Association, Theresa participates in the Nutrition Entrepreneurs and Food and Culinary Professionals dietetic practice groups. Awarded the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year by the New York State Dietetics Association in 2009, Theresa was honored with the Media Excellence Award in 2011. You’ll find Theresa talking about healthy eating and living an active lifestyle throughout the Western New York region, most often on television, radio, newspapers, and social media outlets. Her interests include vegetarian and vegan nutrition, obesity and weight loss, multicultural food practices, breastfeeding and infant nutrition, and local and organic foods.
