The ADAF/ABBOTT NUTRITION RENAL DISEASE RESEARCH GRANT

The American Dietetic Association Foundation with sponsorship from Abbott Nutrition is pleased to announce the availability of funding to support the development of a nutritional screening and assessment tool to identify people with chronic kidney disease (stages 1-5) who are at nutritional risk. All proposals must provide a plan that demonstrates a collaborative effort to work with organizations who are leaders in the area of renal research and treatment, such as the American Dietetic Association Renal Dietetics Practice Group, the National Kidney Foundation Council on Renal Nutrition and the ASPEN Renal Practice Group. Application is limited to Registered Dietitians as Principal Investigators who are members of the American Dietetic Association. The scientific support for the tool must be consistent with the content of the Evidence Analysis Library and Nutrition Care Process and Standardized Language.

Grant Amount: $50,000

Jean Hankin Nutritional Epidemiology Research Grant

This grant is given to provide financial support to a doctoral student working on a dissertation in the area of nutritional epidemiology.

Grant Amount: $5,000

Marie and August LoPresti, Sr. Endowment Fund Faculty Development Award

This award was established to recognize the LoPrestis' contributions to the foodservice, hospitality and dietetics professions. It supplies continuing education funding for faculty of Ohio Universities and Colleges.

PepsiCo Healthy Lifestyles Innovation Research Grant

This grant is given to recognize and encourage innovative approaches to promote healthy living through nutrition and physical activity. Projects must focus on the topic of breakfast; why people don't eat breakfast, and how to increase the number of people who do eat breakfast. Focus on families with children, and strive to change and sustain behavior in an innovative way. Applications must include a clearly stated and testable hypothesis.

Grant Amount: $5,000

Pittsburgh Dietetic Association Leadership Development Award

This award is given to recognize emerging leaders among current graduates of supervised practice programs in the Pittsburgh area and to encourage their participation in association activities.

Award Amount: $1,000
